1980s

Dave Lee develops one of the first motion controllers to provide closed-loop control of hydraulic cylinders using feedback from Temposonics transducers - 1970s

Delta Computer Systems, Inc. is incorporated in Oregon by Dave Lee, Ron Graham, and Steve Nylund to provide electronic controls for industrial markets - 1982

Peter Nachtwey joins Delta, later buys into company - 1985 & 1987

The first Delta-branded motion controller, the 4-axis MC186/40, is introduced along with DCSMON software - 1986

Headquarters moved from Portland, OR to Vancouver, WA - 1986

New logo - 1988

1990s

The TMC188/40 joins the growing family of 1st generation products as the first motion controller specifically designed to plug into a PLC-backplane - 1990

Added quadrature inputs for servo-electric control, and analog inputs for position and pressure control - 1990’s

The 2nd generation RMC100 Series features Fieldbus connectivity to any major PLC or computer. The 2-8 axis controllers, programmed with Delta’s new RMCWin software, were very flexible, with more than 500 configurations - 1997

2000's

Logo refreshed - 2002

The first 3rd generation motion controllers – the RMC70 Series, is introduced along with the all-new RMC70Tools software - 2004

The RMC150E CPU module enhances the RMC100 Series with Delta’s 3rd generation software (renamed to RMCTools) - 2007

Delta’s headquarters moved to a new purpose-built building in Battle Ground, WA - 2009

2010’s

The third edition of the Fluid Power Design Guide in both English and Chinese versions - 2013

The all-new RMC200, featuring 32 axes of control and programmed with Delta’s powerful RMCTools software, is released after an intensive multi-year development effort - 2016

Delta Motion, LTD, is incorporated in the UK to better serve European customers - 2019

2020's

The new RMC200 Lite, featuring up to 18 axes, is introduced along with the enhanced RMC200 Standard which now handles up to 50 axes - 2020

Delta celebrates 40 years in business and introduces a refreshed logo - 2022

Delta becomes an employee-owned company - well-positioned for the next 40 years! - 2022

Delta Motion trade name is adopted as a dba - 2023

EtherCAT MainDevice functionality is added to the RMC200 Standard and Lite - 2024
